Vijayawada, Sep 28 (UNI) Eminent educationist V Koteswarama today said Freedom Figher and Social Reformer Saraswathi Gora's life was a saga of sacrifice for the cause of national independence.

Participating as the chief guest at Gora's 95th birth anniversary meeting here, Dr Koteswarama said Gora, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, went to prison leading a batch of women satyagrahis during the Quit India Movement.

Post-independence, she carried out programmes for comprehensive social change and remained uncompromising on her principles.

She earned a distinct place as an atheist and social reformer in the annals of social history of Andhra Pradesh.

Freedom Fighter R Samrajyam recalled her over eight-decade-long association with Gora and said she was very gentle and humane but very firm on principles.
