GMR Energy ties up with Orissa Govt to set up 1000MW power plant
New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) GMR Energy Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure Ltd, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement with Orissa Government-owned GRIDCO for setting up of a 1000 MW coal-based thermal power plant at Dhenkanal district.
As per the agreement, the company intends to wheel 75 per cent of the saleable power to the power deficit states in the southern India. The remaining 25 per cent at 80 per cent plant load fact shall be supplied to GRIDCO for a period of 25 yrs.
The company had already signed an MoU in this regard with the state government on June 9, 2006.
It has already identified the land and is in an advanced stage of development of the project, a GMR Infrastructure statement said.
The plant is scheduled to be commissioned by end of 2010 and second phase by middle of 2011. The plant will deliver power at most competitive tariff, it added.
