Five lakh pilgrims visit Kedarnath shrine

Dehra Dun, Sep 28 (UNI) A record five lakh pilgrims visited the Kedarnath shrine, one of the four sacred Hindu Dhams, situated at the height of 3581 m above sea level at Rudraprayag district in Uttaranchal this year.

According to Badrinath Kedarnath Mandir Committee Chairman Anusuiya Prasad Maikhuri, in all more than five lakh devotees, including foreigners, have visited the Kedarnath shrine so far this year and this resulted in the income of around Rs 2 crore.

Last year, the total number of devotees, who visited Kedarnath Dham, was 3.90 lakh and the earning had touched the figure of Rs 1.75 crore.. The Temple Kapat(door) is closed during winters The temple doors would be closed for public on October 24 this year, Maikhuri said.
