Depression in Orissa coast

Bhubaneswar, Sep 28 (UNI) A low pressure area over east central and adjoining north east Bay of Bangal has intensified into a depression and lay centred today 300 kms south east of Paradip.

The system is likely to intensify further and move in a west north westerly direction and cross Orissa coast between Gopalpur and Paradip by tomorrow evening.

Met sources said under its impact rain and thundershowers would occur at many places and heavy to very heavy rains would occur at isolated places over Orissa during the next 24 hours.

Squally weather with wind speed reaching between 50 to 60 kmph likely to prevail along and off the coast. The sea condition would be very rough and the fishermen had been advised not to venture into the open sea.

The authority had hoisted the local cautionary signal number three at Gopalpur, Puri, Paradip and Chandbali ports.
