Delhi EFC clears 6 projects worth 59 cr
New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) Delhi government's Expenditure Finance Committee has cleared six projects worth Rs 59 crore, including one to construct Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology Complex phase-III in South West Delhi.
One such proposal, approved in a meeting held under the Chairmanship of Delhi Finance and Planning Minister A K Walia, related to Training and Technical Education Department, Central Jail Tihar, Irrigation and Flood Department, Directorate of Education, Health and Family Welfare Department and Law Department, a statement said.
Dr Walia said the proposal put forth by the Department of Training and Technical Education related to the construction of Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology Complex phase-III at Sector-3, Dwarka at an estimated cost of Rs 41.63 crore within 33 months.
The work under Phase-III included construction of an auditorium, guest house, sports complex, shopping complex, three boys hostels and extension of library building and computer centre.
The proposed works were essential in order to develop the institute in a manner as to take the role of a 'Deemed University' in the near future as provided in its vision document.
The Institute situated on 145 acres of land today catered to around 2,000 academic/research scholar, this strength was proposed to be increased to 4,000 in near future.
The proposal of Central Jail, Tihar related to purchase of three X-Ray Baggage Inspection System and 12 X-Ray Portable Scanners for setting up a control room at Central Jail which would go a long way in curbing entry of undesirable items in the jail complex. This would cost Rs 4.25 Crore.
Another proposal which received the EFC nod related to irrigation and flood control department for remodeling/reconstruction of 28 culverts/bridges on the canals of Haryana Irrigation Department falling in the jurisdiction of Delhi.
The entire work with an estimated cost of Rs 1.86 crore would be completed by March 2007 which would help in the smooth flow of traffic. These 28 bridges/culverts were in dilapidated condition and had not yet been remodeled even after widening of road.
The EFC has also approved a Directorate of Education proposal for the construction of a senior secondary school at sector-6 Dwarka with an estimated cost of Rs 6.75 crore within 15 months after award of work.
Dr Walia further said new school building would provide educational facilities to the students of sector-6 and nearby areas of Dwarka.
An amount of Rs 3.17 Crore would also be released for purchase of furniture articles for Dwarka Court Complex. The EFC had also sanctioned an amount of Rs 1.21 crore for construction of a dispensary at PVC Market, Tikri Kalan, Rohtak Road Delhi. This would be commissioned within 18 months time.
