CUSAT recognition for Coir Board scientists

Kochi, Sep 28 (UNI) The Syndicate of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) has granted recognition to Dr Uma Sankar Sarma, Director, and Dr Anita Das Ravindranath, Senior Scientific Officer, of the Central Coir Research Institute, as research guides under the Science Faculty.

This is the first time in the history of the coir industry that scientists of the Coir Research Institute are getting this prestigious recognition, a Coir Board release said here today.

The recognition has been given as per the recomendation of the standing committee of the syndicate on academic matters.

Dr Sharma, who is heading the Research and Development wing of the Coir Board, was the catalyst for the development of improved coir machinery. Dr Anita Das is closely associated with the research activities in the coir sector for over two decades.
