Council passes K'taka Town and Country Planning Amendment Bill

Belgaum, Sep 28 (UNI) The Karnataka Legislative Council today passed two amendments to the Karnataka Town and Country Planning and certain other laws (Amendment) Bill 2004 and 2005, amidst walk out by the Opposition Congress members.

When the Bill was taken up for discussion, the Opposition members wanted the Government to reconsider the 2004 Amendment Bill as it was earlier returned by the Governor with certain remarks. Congress members V S Ugrappa and K C Kondaiah asked the Government to study it thoroughly before adopting.

Replying to the discussion, State Medical Education Minister V S Acharya said the Bill could be adopted as it had been reconsidered and corrected as per the Governor's wish.

Dissatisfied with the reply, the Congress members, led by Leader of the Opposition H K Patil, staged a walk out.
