Congress delegation to meet Kalam
New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) A delegation of top Congress leaders will meet President A P J Abdul Kalam in the evening to register the party's protest against the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh giving permission to its employees to take part in RSS activities.
AICC Treasurer Motilal Vora and AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh would lead the delegation which would also have senior party leaders from Madhya Pradesh, including the leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).
The delegation would submit a memorandum to the President after the meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 1445 hrs.
The Madhya Pradesh unit of the Congress has been on an agitation against the decision of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government lifting the ban on the state government employees from participating in Sangh activities.
The AICC last week threatened to stage a demonstration in front of the residence of the Madhya pradesh Chief Minister. AICC spokesman Abishek Manu Singhvi said the government would seek legal remedy, if required, to force the government to withdraw its order.
Mr Singhvi also alleged the state government was trying to communalise the bureaucracy.
The Congress also viewed the order as a preventive measure taken against the "dwindling" attendance at Sangh shakhas.
Despite claims that RSS was a socio-cultural organisation, Singhvi said the Sangh was an "out and out a political organisation." UNI SH LS HT1509
