Chess software for visually-challenged launched
Mumbai, Sep 28 (UNI) A chess software ''Talk 64'' was today launched by GTL Foundation for the visually-challenged people to enhance their playing skills here.
The official launch of the software will take place during the forthcoming 11th Individual World Chess Championship for the Blind 2006 in Goa on October 10. The championship will get underway on October 8.
Charudutta Jadhav, Executive Board member of the International Braille Chess Association and General Secretary of the All India Chess Federation for the Blind, said: ''I feel proud that India has come out with the first of its kind software in the world which is helping our team to prepare for the challenge ahead.'' The unique features of this software are that it has speech support, user-friendly interface, engine plug-in architecture, multiple language support, synthesiser plug-in architecture, access through keyboard among others. The price of the software is only Rs 500 and it can be used by the sighted players also.
