Chargesheet against Ex-NDMC Chairperson in Centre Point Hotel case
New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) The CBI today filed a second chargesheet against six persons, including a former Chairperson of NDMC, for regularisation of the unauthorised building of the Centre Point Hotel in Connaught Place.
The chargesheet against then NDMC Chief Architect Tribhuwan Singh, Architect N K Sharma, Assistant Engineer Subhash Chandra, and Centre Point proprietor K L Bhatia and his wife Premlata (who holds the General Power of Attorney) (GPA) and former NDMC Chairperson P M Singh was filed in the Court of Special Judge CBI, under Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 420 IPC (cheating) and 13(2), 13(1)(d) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (criminal misconduct).
The first chargesheet against the five was filed on June 30 this year for illegal grant of health/lodging house licence to the Centre Point Hotel at Kasturba Gandhi Marg in New Delhi's Connaught Place area.
The case was registered by the CBI on July 9, 2003 against P M Singh (former Chairperson NDMC), Chief Architect Tribhuwan Singh and other NDMC officials along with the two Owners of the hotel.
Investigation revealed that during 1927, a Plot of 1.357 acres of land (presently 13, Kasturba Gandhi Marg) was originally allotted/given on perpetual lease to a Barrister. Its ownership had thereafter changed a few times, and it was last transferred in 1977 in favour of a business family.
While the said premises is a residential property, since 1979 a hotel was being run there by its present owners, initially as tenants, and later as GPA holders of the erstwhile owners of the property.
