Canada for greater industrial collaboration with India
Lucknow, Sep 28 (UNI) Canada has assured to facilitate collaboration between Canadian and Indian companies, so as to contribute in the speedy development of Uttar Pradesh.
Canadian High Commissioner David Malone said here today the handicraft products of UP were very popular in foreign shores and he would make efforts to increase their exports.
''I will interact with entrepreneurs, officials and industrial organisations and explore the possibilites of investment in UP,'' he maintained.
Dr Malone said IT sector offerred immense possibilities of investment and Canada would make all efforts to ensure participation in this regard for mutual benefits.
The official had called upon UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav at his official residence.
''Canada is also an agriculture dominated country and the political system of both the countries are almost similar,'' the High Commissioner observed.
Dr Malone said he had visited UP to collect information on different aspects of the state's development.
Meanwhile, the CM said the cooperation of investors was key for the development.
Mr Yadav said there were immense possibilities of capital investment in UP and the government was giving due emphasis on increasing private sector participation.
The former defence minister also suggested that Canada encouraged entrepreneurs to invest in IT, power, agro-based sectors etc.
''The UP government is now playing the role of a facilitator, besides providing facilities to investors. UP is essentially an agriculture-dominated state and has immense potential in this field,'' Mr Yadav underlined.
Dr Malone assured all possible efforts would be made to ensure better cooperation between Canadian and Indian firms.
UP Development Council (UPDC) Chairman Amar Singh informed that the state government had constituted Lucknow Industrial Development Authority (LIDA) on the lines of NOIDA and Greater NOIDA, where all modern facilities would be avilable for industries.
