By-elections to one LS and four assembly seats on Oct 30

New Delhi, Sep 28 (UNI) The by-elections to one Lok Sabha seat in Madhya Pradesh and four assembly seats spread over three states -- Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram -- will be held on October 30.

According to an EC release issued here, the by-elections are scheduled to be held for the Lok Sabha constituency of Vidisha and Malehara assembly constituency in MP, Chowgte (ST) assembly seat in Mizoram and Tlungvel (ST) and Talsara (ST) assembly constituencies in Orissa.

The counting of votes will take place on November 2.

The notification for these will be issued on October 6, the last date of filing nominations is October 13.

The scrutiny of nominatons will take place on October 14 and the last date of withdrawal of nominations is October 16.

The election process has to be completed before November 3.

The commission has decided to use electronic voting machines (EVMs) during the by-elections. The model code of conduct will come into force from the date of notification, the release added.
