Mumbai, Sep 28 (UNI) Bombay Small Scale Industries(BSSI) president Rakesh Pal Abrol today alleged that traders and small scale businessmen in the state are being victimised by Revenue and Sales Tax department through unauthorised collection of taxes and cubersome paper works.

Addressing reporters here at the Patrakar Sangh, he said the department of Sales Tax is creating obstacles for traders after the introduction of Maharashtra Vale Added Tax Act, 2002, which came into effect from April, 2005 in lieu of the Bombay Sales Tax Act, 1959.

Accusing the department of flouting all government regulations, Abrol pointed that the sales tax authorities are milking money from small traders citing various tax laws and cubersome paper works.

Citing Article 19(1)(g) of the Constitution, which confers the right to every citizen freedom to practice any profession, occupation, trade or business in India is subject to reasonable restriction, which can be imposed by State as enumerated under clause (6) of Article 19.

Abrol drew attention that Maharashtra is the only state in the country which has its own state tax implemented on small traders and businessman in addition to other Central taxes.

He demanded that BSSI wanted immediate abolishment of money Rs 500 being charged for C-Tax forms and process for Tax Identification Number(TIN) be also made chargeless to nail down unchecked corruption by the tax authorities.
