AIKS to hold 'Challo Parliament' rally ON Farmers Suicides
Vijayawada, Sep 28 (UNI) Demanding UPA government at the Centre and the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh to take necessary steps for stopping the farmers suicides, All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS) today said it would organise a 'Chalo Parliament' rally on December 19.
Talking to newspersons here, AIKS vice-president Kolli Nageswara Rao said about one lakh farmers from various parts of the country would participate in the rally.
Mr Rao criticised Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for attributing during his speech on 'Independence Day' that the suicides of farmers was on decline in the country.
He levelled similar charges the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for his comments at the Chief Minister's Conference in Naintal recently. The Governments should take remedial steps to prevent the suicides, he added.
Mr Rao, urged farmers to participate in the 'Maha Dharna' at Hyderabad on October 30.
He said though the State Government was providing free power to agriculture and constructing irrigation projects, it has not come forward to abrogate the crop loans, which was the main reason for the ryots suicides.
Mr Rao said the farmers should prevail on the Government to get the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for their crops.
The Government should provide 'land to land' for the farmers, who lost their lands due to the Outer Ring Road (ORR) project, he added.
