United Phosphorus to buy Dupont's Bensulfuron-methyl business
Mumbai, Sept 27 (UNI) United Phosphorus today announced that they have entered into an agreement with EI du Pont de Nemours and company, USA (DuPont), for the purchase of Bensulfuron-methyl business including herbicide and all its mixtures throughout the world, except the Asia Pacific region.
Under the agreement, the company and its subsidiaries throughout the world can start selling Bensulfuron-methyl immediately, except in the Asia Pacific region, it informed in a notice issued to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Bensulfuron-methyl is a high margin product which has been sold for nearly 20 years and is the industry standard for providing annual and perennial broadleaf and sedge weed control.
This active ingredient has a wide application window to crop and weeds and can be applied direct to water. It is mainly used in rice and aquatic herbicide.
Meanwhile, in yet another development, United Phosphorus has announced that Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha, (ISK) has signed an agreement for the production of certain agrochemicals with the company, and furthermore, is exploring the possible business alliance for distribution in India and certain other countries.
The company has been entrusted by ISK with the manufacture of certain products developed by ISK. ISK, United Phosphorus and Mitsui&Co have a plan to establish a joint venture company for development and distribution of ISK products in India. In addition, they (3-companies) continue with discussions about possible co-operation in countries other than India.
With this venture, ISK will be able to access the world class manufacturing base of United Phosphors as well as it's domestic marketing network. The company presently has 8 manufacturing facilities in India, one each in UK and Argentina and currently has a 8 per cent market share in India.
This partnership will enable the company to grow organically, inorganically and through business alliances.
