Medical services affects Jipmer following indefinite strike
Puducherry, Sep 27 (UNI) Medical services in the centrally administered Jipmer hospital remained affected for the 20th day today following the indefinite strike by the employees to protest against the granting of autonomous status to the institution.
The employees continued their dharna in front of the hospital while two delegations called on the Lt Governor Mukut Mithi and Chief Minister N Rangasamy to find an amicable settlment to the strike.
The employees informed both Mr Mithi and Mr Rangasamy that they were ready to call off their strike and resume duty, if the Jipmer administration revokes the suspension and termination orders on the employees and also withdraw the police cases against them.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Mithi said he has urged the employees to resume duty in the interest of the poor patients, and added that the Jipmer Director Dr Subba Rao had infomed him that if the employees join duty, it would enable the administration to revoke the disciplinary actions against them.
Mr Rangasamy told newspersons after holding talks with the employees delegation that they had put forth the demand that the disciplinary action against them be revoked and cases withdrawn.
He said a conducive atmosphere would be created for the employees to resume duty. Efforts to contact the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Anubumani Ramadoss did not materialise so far, but he would try to contact him later in the day, he added.
He said the discussions with the employees would continue.
