Death penalty to three members of Kalbailaiya gang

Ujjain, MP, Sep 27 (UNI) A local court today handed down death penalty to three members of dreaded Kalbailaiya dacoit gang and sentenced four other members to life imprisonment in connection with a murder case.

According to prosecution, 13 members of Chaddi-baniyandhari alias Kalbailaiya gang, synonymous with terror in Malwanchal region, were accused of dacoity, loot, rape and murder in three separate areas.

Earlier, the court today sentenced 10 accused to life imprisonment in these cases.

Additional Sessions Judge S K Saraiyya awarded death penalty to Padmnath, Guddunath and Dharmendranath while sentencing four others to life imprisonment. Six others were acquitted for lack of evidence.

Public Prosecutor Sanjay Shinde said the accused had barged into the house of home guard Hemant Giri, killed him and his grandfather Narayan Giri and carried out a loot in the house. The culprits injured some family members also.

Another accused, Ganesh alias Gania, had fled while returning from hearing from Shajapur on September 23, 2005. He was also wanted in connection with ten other cases of murder and dacoity.
