BJP crticises Centre for inadequate flood relief
Bhopal, Sep 27 (UNI) Claiming that the Centre had not provided adequate relief to tackle with flood situation in Madhya Pradesh, the state BJP today accused the Centre of ''political discrimination.'' A meeting, chaired by state BJP President Satyanarain Jatia discussed steps taken by the state government to tackle the flood situation, organisation elections, appointment of officer bearers in boards and corporations and Vidisha and Bada Malehara by-elections.
The meeting was attended by party's state incharge Anant Kumar, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, cabinet members and senior party office-bearers.
During the meeting, Mr Singh said the Centre ''discriminated'' against Madhya Pradesh in providing flood assistance, while the BJP's aim was to bring relief to people and not play politics over it.
Reviewing organisational elections, he said this had provided a new dimension to the state's development.
Dr Jatia lauded the state government's efforts to meet the flood crisis and flayed the Centre for discriminating with the state, alleging it was involved in playing a negative role to divert attention from its failure.
Expressing satisfaction over peaceful conclusion of organisational elections, he said election committees will consider selection of candidates for by-elections to Vidisha Lok Sabha and Bada Malehra Vidhan Sabha seats after bypoll dates were announced.
He expressed happiness over the state being awarded by the President and the central ministries' providing it an excellent assessment.
Dr Jatia said the state's achievements must be propagated in order to ensure its benefits.
