Belgaum session to be an annual affair: Yediyurappa
Belgaum, Sep 27 (UNI) The Karnataka Government will hold sessions of both the Houses of the Legislature in Belgaum for 15 days every year and develop Belgaum as the second capital of the State.
Announcing this in the Legislative Council here today, Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said Karnataka Suvarna Soudha would be constructed here on the lines of Assembly, the State Secretariat, at a cost of Rs 250 crore, of which one third would be released in the current financial year.
He announced the decision of the government to remove ceiling on the loan limit of Rs three lakh to farmers at the interest rate of four per cent.
Mr Yediyurappa said a Committee, under State Planning Board Chairman and retired Chief Secretary A Ravindra, would be formed to study and report within two months the implementation of the Dr Nanjundappa Committee report on regional imbalance in the last four years. He promised to earmark Rs 1,000 crore for the purpose in the next financial year.
In the next four years, the government should spend Rs 16,000 crore for the implementation of the report, he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister also announced that to upgrade airports, Rs 15 crore would be earmarked for Belgaum, Rs 25 crore for Hubli, Rs 20 crore for Gulbarga and Rs five crore for Bijapur.
