SC refuses to interfere in the elections of the TMTU
Thane, Sep 26 (UNI) The Supreme Court has upheld a ruling of the Mumbai High Court and refused to interfere in the elections of the Thane Municipal Transport Union.
A spokesman of the 'Parivartan Panel' which contested and won all the seats, today told mediapersons that a bench comprising Justice Abhok Ban and Justice Markandeya Katju dismissed two petitions filed by Sena member Hemant Bhosle, and upheld the order of the Mumbai High Court, yesterday.
The Sharad Rao led union had made a clean sweep of the Thane Municipal Transport Union elections.
The Shiv Sena had subsequently filed a petition in the Supreme Court, challenging the order of the Mumbai High Court which allowed non-employees of the transport services to contest the elections to the union.
Sharad Rao is slated to become the president of the union, the the spokesman added.
It is pertinent to recall here, that immediately after the elections, Sharad Rao had declared that they would not allow partial privatization of the transport services.
