Malaysia offers visa-on-arrival for Indians
Bangalore, Sep 26 (UNI) Malaysia Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today announced visa-on-arrival facility for Indian tourists visiting the South East Asian nation.
Talking to reporters here, he said the visa would be valid for a maximum period of 30 days and entry into the country allowed from six different points.
To keep abreast with the unsurpassed interest generated in Malaysia by India, it was imperative to establish relaxed visa procedures to spur intra-regional travel and bolster tourism, Mr Mansor said.
''I hope this hassle-free environment would go a long way in strengthening our relations and is an indication of our long term commitment to the Indian market,'' he said.
These initiatives form part of the Visit Malaysia 2007 road show campaign, with the objective of boosting wholesome growth in all segments of India outbound tourism to Malaysia. Focus would be laid on inviting more Indian companies to organise and share their incentives and conferences in the tropical country.
Mr Mansor said ''2007 will mark the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Malaysia and we would like to celebrate our independence with the whole world. The Ministry will conduct more than 50 events in the year and we invite Indians to become part of us in this milestone.'' The Ministry envisaged that 400,000 Indians would visit the country in 2007 as against 225,789 arrivals in 2005, he said.
