Srinagar, Sep 26 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir State Forest Corporation (SFC) has earned Rs 29.60 crore through sale of timber to consumers in the state during first three months this financial year, an official spokesman said.

He said the Corporation also extracted 9.23 lakh cubic feet of timber from the forests during the last seven months and transported it to various sale centres in the state. Last year, the corporation extracted 22.57 lakh cubic feet timber worth Rs 86.24 crore, of which 25.82 cubic feet was transported to sale centres. During this period, the corporation paid Rs 10 crore as royalty.

The authorities of SFC has been directed to ensure that timber in adequate quantity is made available to the consumers.
