Woman constable of JK Police killed in Srinagar grenade blast
Srinagar, Sep 25 (UNI) A woman constable of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was killed and five others critically wounded in a grenade attack by suspected militants at the busy Maharaja Bazar near here today on the first day of holy month of Ramzan, sources said.
They said suspected militants hurled a hand grenade towards a police vehicle at around 1330 hrs at Maharaja Bazar near the historic Lal Chowk here.
The sources said the grenade exploded inside the Maruti Gypsy of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, resulting in the death of a woman constable, Gulshan, a resident of Ganderbal on the city outskirts.
Another woman constable, Shafia, two men police personnel, a civilian and driver of the vehicle were critically wounded in the attack. They have been hospitalised.
The sources said the entire area has been cordoned off and searches launched to trace the suspected ultras.
