Pak wrestlers to participate in Katra festival on Sep 29

Katra, Sep 25 (UNI) As many as 12 grapplers from Pakistan are likely to take part in a wrestling event to be held here on September 29 as a part of the 11th Navratra festival.

A decision to this effect was taken in an executive body meeting of the Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association, held under the chairmanship of Shiv Kumar Sharma.

Sharma told UNI that two groups from Pakistan, consisting of 12 wreslers, were likely to participate in the event and they have got clearance from the CID and the Intelligence Bureau.

The matter is now before the External Affairs Ministry for its nod and for visa formalities, he added.

He said the event was being conducted in collaboration with the Navratra Festival Committee, J&K Sports Council, Konkan Railway, J&K Bank and others.

Mr Sharma said wrestlers of national and international fame from Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh and Jammu and Kashmir will participate in the event.
