Law can't come in way of my becoming a minister: Bhanu
Ranchi, Sep 25 (UNI) A day after he was denied a berth in the Madhu Koda government in Jharkhand following a warrant against him, expelled Forward Bloc MLA Bhanu Pratap Shahi today said the Constitution does not debar him from becoming a minister.
Mr Shahi was supposed to be inducted yesterday along with four other ministers in the Koda Cabinet, but dropped at the last moment on technical ground.
Talking to UNI, Mr Shahi, however, said he would continue to support the week-old UPA dispensation in the state.
He said the people with political background were used to facing such charges. ''It is a conspiracy by the erstwhile Arjun Munda-led NDA government to frame charges against me.'' Mr Shahi said he had been fighting this for a long time and asserted that he would end it legally.
He hoped that the next expansion of the Koda cabinet would include his name adding law should not come in the way of his becoming a minister.
Asserting his innocence in the issue, he said people of the state knew the fact that he was fabricated by the Munda government to 'finish' him politically.
Referring to Jharkhand Vikas Morcha president Babulal Marandi's continued attack on him on the issue, the aspirant MLA for ministerial berth asked where the former Chief Minister's conscience had gone when Mr Ram Chandra Kesri and Mr Jaleswar Mahto, also facing corruption charges, were made ministers in his cabinet.
Coming down heavily on Mr Marandi, he said the JVM president had no issue at present.
With Mr Arjun Munda's ouster, Mr Marandi was now looking for ''non issues'' to make his presence felt, he said.
