Families evacuated to safter places following heavy rain
Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 25 (UNI) As many as 135 families were evacuated to safer places as low-lying areas submerged in heavy rain that lashed the the city and suburbs during the last 24 hours.
The families were accommodated in nine camps in the district, a release from the control room functioning under the Land Revenue Commissioner said today.
Several houses were damaged as the South-west monsoon revived all over the state after a few days. Five houses were damaged in Thiruvananthapuram district, 15 in Kollam, eight in Pathanamthitta, five in Palakkad and six in Kasaragod causing an estimated loss of about Rs 1.80 lakh, the release said.
The search for a fisherman, who fell into the sea from a boat while fishing off Sakthikulangara in Kollam district, was on.
