Chautala threatens to thwart Reliance SEZ
Meham (Rohtak) Sep 25 (UNI) Former Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Supremo Om Prakash Chautala today opposed the proposed Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to be set up in the state by the Reliance and threatened to thwart it by not allowing transfer of the ''fertile land'' for the project.
Addressing a rally on his arrival after over six-month treatment in the US, Mr Chautala alleged that a large scale corruption had taken place in the land deal for setting up of various SEZs in the state.
Fertile land worth hundreds of crores of Rupees was being given to the Reliance Industries Limited at throw away prices, he charged at the rally held on 92nd birth anniversary of his father and former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal.
Asserting that the INLD would not allow transfer of even an inch of fertile land for the proposed SEZ to be set up in Gurgaon and Jhajjar districts, he asserted: ''Jo hamari upjau zameen ki taraf dekhega uski ankh nikal li jayengi (Whoever will eye our fertile land, their eyes would be gouged out)''.
Charging the Hooda government with failure on all fronts, Mr Chautala said the Chief Minister should resign from his post as he had ''no moral right to continue in the office even for a minute.''
Taking strong exeception to description of Jats as '' lutere'' in NCERT Books, Mr Chautala asserted he would fight for the removal of such remarks. He alleged that corruption had been rampant in the administration ever since the Congress government took over in the state. Corrupt leaders and government officials, against whom corruption cases were registered during the INLD rule, had been given important positions by the Hooda Government after withdrawing all cases against them, he charged.
On the prevailing power crisis in the state, he said mismanagement by the government was responsible for the present state of affairs.
Calling upon his partymen for a decisive battle against the Hooda Government, he asked them to take a pledge to dislodge it.
Stressing the need for strong party organisation for this purpose, he asked partymen to enrol as many people as possible in the party during the one-month membership drive from September 25 to October 25.
