BNCCI sets up NRI cell to foster Indo-US trade ties
Kolkata, Sept 25: Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BNCCI) is setting up an NRI cell for the first time in its 123 years of existance to foster trade relations with overseas companies in a more aggressive manner.
Announcing this, newly elected BNCCI president Shanta Ghosh, a prominent entrepreneur, said during her first interaction with the media here today that in order to boost the prospect of setting up more joint ventures in different small and medium sector enterprises (SME) with the American, European and South Asain companies, they had decided to set up an exclusive NRI cell with well known NRI entrepreneur in the USA Sneha Khanna becoming its first coordinator.
"I am leaving for the USA on September 27 to sign the formal agreement with Ms Khanna and meeting a number of prospective American partners in different sectors, which had evinced keen interest in the ongoing industrial rejuvenation programme of India in general and West Bengal in particular and even wanted to set up new units here, " Ms Ghosh, who had taken up as the second consecutive lady president of the premier chamber for the current year last week, said.
Referring to her other visions for the year ahead, the new BNCCI chief said it included establishment of a fully updated data bank for SME sectors in the country, suitable steps to meet the challenges from the newly introduced MSMED Act, suggesting more steps for speedier growth of infrstructural facilities and encouragement of women entrepreneurship apart from empowering them through various economic activities.
She also elaborated her plan to intensify the BNCCI's field of activities even in the remotest parts of the country by developing its own network and database.
