125 IAF personnel taken ill by food poisoing

Kolkata, Sep 24 (UNI) Altogether 125 Indian Air Force personnel fell ill due to food poisoning over the past three days in Bagdogra airport.

Defence sources said all the affected personnel were airmen and all of them had been discharged from the hospital after being treated.

The sources said 15 airmen complained of stomach upset after taking dinner on Thursday while fresh batches fell ill on following two days.

While the affected personnel were immediately sent to IAF hospital, the authorities sent for analysis samples of the cooked as well as uncooked food served for the meal.

The analysis report said there was nothing wrong in the cooked food, while the sample of pineapple had shown a bacterial strain, suspected to have caused the illness.
