SGSC demands university in the name of Guru Teg Bahadur
Patna, Sep 23 (UNI) Shiromani Gurudwara Sewadar Committee(SGSC) today urged the Centre to establish a university in the name of Guru Teg Bahadur in New Delhi.
A resolution to this effect was passed unanimously in a general meeting of the SGSC here.
In a release, SGSC national vice-president Prof. Darshan Singh said Guru Teg Bahadur had sacrificed his life to protect the Sikh religion and high moral values in life.
He said the SGSC had appealed to the Sikh sangat, institutions and people to celebrate the completion of third century of Guru Granth Sahib in 2008 at Naded in Maharashtra.
The SGSC also urged the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee(SGPC) in Amritsar to translate Guru Granth Sahib in other languages to enable the masses know about the high moral values of life.
The Sewadar committee urged the SGPC to appoint Prof Darshan Singh as Jathedar of Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikh.
