More rains predicted in J'khand,life affected
Ranchi, Sep 23 (UNI) The past two days' incessant downpour in Jharkhand triggred by a depression in North Bay of Bengal showed no sign of relenting with the weatherman predicting more rain in the next 24 hours.
The low pressure was static over Jharkhand and would break after 24 hours moving towards west-north direction, senior MET scientist J K Sarma told UNI here, adding the temperature also went down recording 18.2 degrees Celcius, 4 degrees below normal average.
In Chatra, a youth was killed in an overflowing pond last evening, reports said today adding the rains affected life in several places with rail communication thrown out of gear in Giridih.
However, railway communication at the Giridih- Madhupur rail track was likely to be restored by tonight, authorities said adding it was disrupted after the rail bridge no. 26 on Dumduma river was damaged due to incessant rain.
Mr Sarma said the state capital, Bokaro, Giridih, Dumka, Dhanbad and other districts would continue to be affected.
He said the rainfall was recorded at 128 mm.
In the capital, all the main thoroughfares and several link roads were under water.
A report from Dumka said water level of Mayurakshi and Tepra river had increased.
In Jamtara district, about 36 families from Kewatjali, Panjinia, Murgaton, Ladna Goatola villages were shifted to upland areas due to increase of water level at Damodar river.
