Kollywood felicitates Karunanidhi, himself a film writer

Chennai, Sep 23 (UNI) Kollywood stars, producers, directors, distributors and exhibitors came together to felicitate one of the partriarchs of Tamil cinema, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at a glittering function at the Nehru Indoor Stadium here this evening.

Preceded by a colourful cultural show, some singing the paens of Mr Karunanidhi, who himself occupies a high place in the Tamil film industry as a story-script-dialogue and song writer, the film folk thanked 'Kalaigner' for coming to the rescue of the industry everytime it was caught in an imbroglio of some kind or difficulties.

Some of Kalaignar's schemes for the industry include subsidy to films titled in Tamil and reduction of rents for outdoor shooting.

The Kollywood glitteratti who led the show from the front included stars Kamal Hassan, Rajnikant and Vijaykant, who also became the latest addition to Tamil Nadu politics during the assembly elections in May this year and became an MLA.

The colourful programme was titled 'Gala festival for shining sun of world of arts''.
