Karnataka body for mentally retarded bags national award

Bangalore, Sep 23 (UNI) The Karnataka Parents' Association for Mentally Retarded Citizens has bagged the National Trust for the Welfare of Mentally Retarded Persons' second best Non-Government Organisation Award for 2005-06.

In a release here today, Association President K R Venkatesha said the award was given to the Association in recognition of its excellent services and standards set in rehabilitation activities of mentally retarded persons.

The award, comprising a plaque, a certificate and a purse of Rs 50,000, was presented by Union Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Meira Kumar at the Trust's annual general body meeting in New Delhi yesterday.
