Committee to submit recommendations in November: Reddy
Visakhapatnam, Sep 23 (UNI) The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Labour, Employment and Textiles Survaram Sudhakar Reddy today said the Committee had visited Meghalaya, West Bengal, Orissa and Andhra Pradesh to study the problems of jute farmers.
Speaking to mediapersons here, he said there were about 45 lakh jute growers and workers in the country and the Committee was committed to place their opinions and demands before the Parliament.
The Committee would propose to the government to provide representation on the board to farmers and workers.
It would also recommend to the government to implement a uniform minimum wage system across the country, for the benefit of the labour class.
Mr Reddy said that at present, the provident fund coverage for the employees was very poor.
He said there were ESI Hospitals which were running with no adequate doctors.
