Maj Gen Ghotra the Colonel of Gorkha Rifles

Shillong, Sep 22 (UNI) Maj Gen Bhupinder Singh Ghotra, took over as the Colonel of the Regiment of 5 Gorkha Rifles (Frontier Force) from Lt Gen Richard Khare at an official ceremony held at the 58 Gorkha Training Centre here yesterday.

A statement issued by the Press Information Bureau (Defence Wing) here today said Maj Gen Ghotra was commissioned into the 2/5 Gorkha Rifles in 1971 and commanded that battalion. He was presently holding the post of Additional Director General (Procurement) at the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army).

Meanwhile, the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment, Lt Gen Khare who was holding the post of Military Secretary, would be retiring from service on September 30.
