Govt. to go in appeal in SC in Cola case: Law Minister
Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 22 (UNI) Kerala Law Minister M Vijayakumar today said the government would go in appeal in the Supreme Court against the High Court order lifting the ban on the sale of Coca-Cola and Pepsi in the state.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said the government would take all measures to ensure legal protection in this regard.
Stating that there was no question of reversing the government's decision on Cola ban, Mr Vijayakumar said if necessary a legislation would be enacted in this regard.
Reacting to the High Court order, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said in Kannur that ''the lifting of the ban by the division bench of the High Court is unfortunate. We will seek opinion from the state Advocate-General and other legal experts and will certainly go in for an appeal.'' Ms Mayilamma, who led a four year long agitation against the soft drink major, said in Palakkad that she would resume the struggle to get justice to the people of the area.
The tribal leader called off the agitation following the banning of Coca-Cola and Pepsi by the state government.
