Aslam sim cards could give vital lead: police
Ahmedabad, Sep 20 (UNI) Police today claimed a breakthrough with the recovery of 32 sim cards bought by four Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists arrested in Gujarat in the past two days.
The terrorists who were part of a sleeper module of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) had procured these sim cards at a cost of Rs 65,000-70,000 from a shop in Behrampura area of the city.
While Ilyas Memon and Khalid Kahsmiri were arrested on September 18 from a guest house in Kalupur area of the city, Maulvi Kari Muffidul and Siraj Ansari were nabbed the next day.
One of the sim cards belong to Aslam Kashmiri who had been involved in spreading LeT modules across Gujarat.
''We have sought the details of the calls made and tracing the places Kashmiri went through the sim card,'' police crime branch said in a statement.
Upon interrogation of the four terrorists police have learnt that Ilyas Memon who hailed from Ahmedabad had been given the task of locating godowns and warehouses to provide cover to the terrorists who were to come from outside the state.
''It is learnt that the terrorists were to come here in the guise of dry friut traders,'' police said.
The interrogation of Ilyas has also revealed that he had been sent to Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir for arms training.
There were 15 others in the camp apart from him. We are now asking him about there whereabouts and other details, police said.
