Animals lead protest over BHU campus violence
Varanasi, Sep 21 (UNI) Spanning from a monkey to bull and from a dog to donkey -- an array of animals led a unique protest by college students here today against the recent violence in Banaras Hindu University (BHU), in which several students were injured.
The students of Harischandra Post Graduate College here led by former students union vice-president Ravikant Vishwakarma carried out a unique demonstration against the alleged lathicharging of BHU students by the central varsity security personnel on Tuesday.
The protest in form of a procession saw animals leading over 100 students.
''These animals leading the protest have been blooded to draw home our standpoint, that by brutally assaulting students agitating for restoration of students union in Asia's biggest university, BHU administration has proved that it is more savage than animals,'' Ravikant said.
This procession from Luxa to Maidagin will be followed by more vigorous movement, if the BHU administration did not restore students union in the central university, besides punishing those responsible for Tuesday's lathicharge on students.
Meanwhile, students at BHU continued their symbolic protest against Tuesday's incidents by wearing black bands to classes.
