St Jude gets US, Europe OK for thin pacemaker lead
CHICAGO, Sep 20 (Reuters) St. Jude Medical Inc has said it received U.S. European regulatory approvals for a thin pacemaker lead that is easier for physicians to implant and reduces trauma to heart tissue.
The statement from St Jude came yesterday.
The Tendril ST model lead uses low-profile, flat-wire technology to reduce the size of the outer coil and lead body.
A lead is an insulated wire that is placed through the vein as part of a pacemaker implantation procedure, with its tip attached to the heart tissue and the other end connected to the pacemaker. It carries electrical impulses from the pacemaker to the heart and transmits information from the heart back to the implanted device.
