SP scoffs at Sonia's allegations of corruption
Lucknow, Sep 20 (UNI) The ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh today scoffed at allegations made by AICC president Sonia Gandhi that the ruling dispensation in UP was ''indulging in corruption.
Ms Gandhi had today made these charges at her 'Nav Nirman' rally in Bareilly.
Terming UP as 'andher nagri, chaupat raja', she alleged the ruling party leaders were filling their coffers at the cost of common man.
Reacting to Ms Gandhi's fiery speech, state PWD minister and brother of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, Shivpal Singh Yadav said she had read out a prepared speech and perhaps was not aware of the developmental work carried out in UP.
''How can she say the situation in UP is bad. It is better than Delhi where a Congress government is in place...UP is better than any other state in terms of power, law and order and development,'' he asserted.
Mr Yadav claimed despite tall claims of the Congress leadership, no central funds have been released for UP...''show us the funds.
Everyone knows Centre is treating UP in a step-motherly manner,'' he charged.
