Rs 4.60 cr spent under NREGS in Doda, Kupwara districts in J

Srinagar, Sep 20 (UNI) Under National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS), 741 works have been taken up in Kupwara and Doda districts, once the hub of militants, in Jammu and Kashmir.

These works will cost Rs 4.60 crore, out of which, 230 works have been completed, an official spokesman said today.

He said in both the districts, 168053 families have been registered for wage employment and 150400 job cards have also been issued to the beneficiaries.

He said the NREGS has been started in all the nine blocks of Kupwara district and nearly 200 works have been taken up under the scheme at a total cost of Rs 60 lakh. 65000 beneficiaries have been provided job cards in the district and so far more than 30 works have been completed.

Likewise, in Doda district 103053 families have been registered under NREGS and 85400 beneficiaries have been provided job cards.

541 works have been taken up in the district at a cost of Rs 4.01 crore out of which 130 works have been completed so far.
