Road map being prepared for cut in sales tax on petrol, diesel
Mumbai, Sep 19 (UNI) After his arrival from Delhi and subsequent meeting with State Finance Minister Jayant Patil, Federation of Maharashtra Petrol Dealers' Association (FAMPEDA) President Ravi Shinde told UNI that a road map was being prepared to work out a reduction on sales tax on petrol and diesel without causing loss to the State exchequer.
Shinde said, ''A road map on reduction in sales tax on petrol and diesel is being worked out to bring it at par with other states in the range of 21 and 27 per cent, without causing any revenue loss to the State after the reduction.'' Indian Oil General Manager Satwant Singh, Sales Tax Commissioner B C Khatau and office bearers of FAMPEDA will work on the modalities while, association, oil industry and dealers will ensure that there is no loss to the State revenue.
Shinde further said discussion on other demands was also satisfactory, which included a demand on profit margin in CNG.
Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel took the initiative in resolving the deadlock and State Finance Minister Jayant Patil has been authorised to take the final decision in this regard, added Shinde.
