Pvt-sector participation for institutional delivery in MP
Bhopal, Sep 20 (UNI) With the objective of promoting institutional delivery, the Madhya Pradesh government will launch -- on October 15 -- a 'Janani Sahayogi' scheme with private-sector participation.
''The scheme is for those Below Poverty Line and the initial provision is Rs 10 crore. This is the first state to implement the scheme for reducing maternal and infant mortality,'' Health and Family Welfare Minister Ajay Vishnoi told reporters here today.
The decision was taken due to increasing pressure on institutional delivery in government hospitals. Those women eligible for delivery at private institutes would continue receiving benefit under the Vijayaraje Scindia Insurance Scheme. The institutes would be compensated by the government.
''The rates will be Rs 800 for normal delivery, Rs 4,530 for c-section, Rs 300 for abortion Rs 500 for transfusion. A sum of Rs 250 per day will be disbursed for infants needing special care,'' Mr Vishnoi added.
The private institutes would have to have a minimum of 20 beds, a labour room, pathology lab, OT, ambulance and specialists.
Interested parties may file applications by October 5. Scrutiny would take place for five days. The maximum number of such institutes has not been fixed but the government is endeavouring to have at least one in every district.
''Institutional delivery has doubled to 46 per cent,'' he claimed.
