Punjab Govt to implement Rs 95 cr computerisation prog with CMS
Chandigarh, Sep 20 (UNI) The Punjab government today tied up with software company CMS Computers Ltd for computerisation of land revenue records across all the 153 tehsils and sub-tehsils in the state at a cost of Rs 95 crore in the next three years.
''The private partner, according to the MoU, will bring in the infrastructre, manpower and IT equipment to maintain and operate the project for the period of five years,'' Punjab Cooperation Minister Jasjit Singh Randhawa The project would begin in November this year.
The state government entered into this agreement through the Punjab and Records Society, which would also provide service to the citizens of the state under the Integrated Land Management System project at al the tehsils and sub-tehsils, Mr Randhawa said.
The project envisages data entry of all seven registers of the patwari, updating records to the current level, and thereafter, providing land record related services to the citizens through the 'nakal kendras' in the first phase. All records would be updated on a perpetual manner through the software, the minister said.
The second part of the project includes computerisation of the processes of Sub-registrar Offices located all over the state. This includes scanning of documents and finger prints, taking digital photographs and registering the documents.
CMS Chairman Ramesh D Grover said the company had prepared a similar software for the land records in Andhra Pradesh and a similar project was underway in Karnataka.
