Orissa govt clears 3.5 MTPA Cement Plant by Grasim Industries

Bhubaneswar, Sep 20 (UNI) The Orissa government today cleared the proposal of Grasim Industries Limited to set up a 3.5 MTPA Cement Plant at an investment of Rs.1200 crores.

The High Power Project Clearance Authority, chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, gave its clearance for the project at a meeting here attended by among others State Industries Minister Biswa Bhusan Harichandan and Finance Minister P C Ghadei.

Official sources said the Cement Plant, considered to be the second largest plant in the country would use the fly ash and slag as raw materials to produce the cement.

The proposal had earlier received the clearance from the state owned Industrial Promotion and Investment Corporation Limited(IPICOL) The Cement Plant would be set up in the tribal dominated Sundargarh district, official sources said.

The Grasim Industries Limited is likely to sign the MoU with the state government here on September 26 to set up the plant.
