Orders reserved on admissibility of Reddy's petition
Bangalore, Sep 20 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today reserved orders on the maintainability of a writ petition filed by suspended BJP MLC Janardhana Reddy, seeking a CBI inquiry into the Rs 150 crore bribery allegation against Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy for allowing illegal mining in the Bellary district.
Mr Justice H G Ramesh reserved judgment after arguments by the petitioner's Counsel were concluded.
The court was hearing arguments regarding the maintainability of the petition when alternate remedies were available to the petitioner. Without exhausting the same, he could not directly approach the High Court with a writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution, it was contended.
Mr Reddy had kicked up a political storm in the State when he levelled the allegation against the Chief Minister, Forests Minister C Chennigappa and Home Minister M P Prakash. He had claimed that he possessed VCDs to substantiate his charge.
