No differences with Moily: TNCC Chief
Chennai, Sep 20 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President M Krishnasswamy today denied reports that he had differences with Congress Working Committee member M Veerappa Moily, who was also in-charge of party affairs in the State.
''There is no dispute between us. Mr Moily is a respectable leader and we all work in tandem under the leadership of Congress President Sonia Gandhi,'' he told newspersons here.
Asked about posters that had come up against Mr Moily in the city, he said action would be taken against those who ''acted against intra-party affairs.'' He also declined on react to PMK founder S Ramadoss' announcement of black flag demonstration against Mr Moily on the reservation issue.
Reports about Mr Krishnasswamy's outbursts that Mr Moily was not allowing him to function independently had stirred fresh controversy in the already faction-ridden Congress in the state.
The TNCC President was apparently upset with Mr Moily for disapproving the list of district-level observers prepared by him to assess the party's strength in various corporations and municipalities in view of the coming local body elections.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders, including Union Minister E V K S Elangovan, former TNCC President Thangabalu, Lok Sabha member Prabhu and legislator D Yasodha, discussed issues related to the forthcoming civic elections at party headquarters 'Satyamurthy Bhavan.' However, Union Minister G K Vasan and his loyalists were conspicuous by their absence in the meeting.
The discussions were held ahead of the DPA meeting, convened by the DMK, in the evening to discuss the Panchayat elections.
The total number of seats and identification of Corporations and Municipalities to be contested by the party candidates were discussed in the meeting, Mr Krishnasswamy, added.
