Lucknow, Sep 20 (UNI) A group of neo Gandhians, inspired by Sanjay Dutt-starrer hit film 'Lage Raho Munna Bhai', today used 'Gandhigiri' -- the new buzzword to fight injustice and social evils -- at a liquor shop here.

Dressed in Jawahar jackets and Gandhi caps, a group of youth fighting for removal of a liquor shop near a temple, today distributed flowers to judges and lawyers at the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court, where the matter is sub-judice.

They also distributed copies of a memorandum demanding removal of the liquor shop to passers-by.

The memorandum claimed no one could worship at the temple or hold any religious function, when a thriving liquor shop was located across the road.

The group later reached the collectorate, the excise directorate and the district magistrate's residence to continue with the same exercise.

Their final destination was the liquor shop itself, located next to the office of a leading English daily and opposite a temple.

The group allegedly entered the model wine shop and distributed flowers to employees and customers, to everyone's surprise.

Although they did not indulge in vandalism, on the complaint of the shop owner, they were detained by the local police. However, they were released after the two parties reached an ''understanding.'' UNI NAB VS PA VC1900
