Meghalaya police constitutes women cells in districts
Shillong, Sep 20 (UNI) Director General of Police William Richmond Marbaniang today exhorted the officers of the cells to get increasingly involved in the prevention, detection and investigation of crime against women.
With a view to sensitising officers of recently constituted Crime against Women Cells in the Districts of Meghalaya, Mr Marbaniang held a meeting today.
Mr Marbaniang asked them to be sympathetic and show concern to the victims of crimes against women and children. He attended to their pressing problems like dedicated cells phones for easy access, travel allowance by hired vehicles for quicker response time and more staff from the recently-recruited 100 women constables.
Senior officers of the department also attended the meeting.
Additional Director General of Police (CID) discussed about specialized training for the Cell officers to handle such crimes.
