Indirect tax collection in Q1 up by 23.7%
New Delhi, Sep 20 (UNI) Indirect tax collection during April- July, 2006,(Q1) was higher by 23.7 per cent and in July this year the figure was higher by 24.1 per cent.
To achieve the BE 2006-07 target (August- March, 2006,) for indirect taxes a growth rate of 11.2 per cent is required.
The indirect tax revenue figure for July, 2005 was Rs 15,227 crore and the April- July, 2006 figure stood at Rs 56,063 crore.
The revenue realised from indirect taxes in July, 2006 was Rs 18,898 crore.
Central Excise and Customs collection during April- August, 2006 was 17.2 per cent higher than the same period last year.
Figures of Customs and Excise released here today by the Finance Ministry show that this collection in August, 2006, was up by 12.1 per cent.
Service tax during April-July, 2006 was higher by 66 per cent as compared to the same period last year and for the month of July it was higher by 68.8 per cent.
The revenue realised during August,2005 stood at Rs 14,687 crore and during April- August,2005 stood at Rs 64,827 crores.
The revenue realised from service tax in August, 2006, was Rs 16,460 crore and April- August, 2006 was Rs 75,967 crore.
Service tax during July, 2005 was Rs 1,534 crore and upto April- July was Rs 5,924 crore.
Service tax revenue realised in July 2006 was Rs 2,589 crore and in April- July, 2006 the figure was Rs 9,835 crore. The growth in revenue during July, 2006 stood at Rs 2,589 crore and April- July, 2006 was Rs 9,835 crore.
Customs, Excise and Service tax collection during April- July, 2006 was higher by 23.7 per cent as compared to the same period last year and growth in the three taxes was 24.1 per cent in July, 2006.
